IB Projects was the successful Head Contractor for the Nunawading Nick Scali Furniture showroom redevelopment. The project consisted of the conversion of the mezzanine and existing ground floor to a single level of 2,119m2 and the renovations and extensions to the bulky goods retail premises. The works involved a part-demolition of the building facade and removal of the mezzanine and internal strip out. The building footprint was extended towards the rear and the west. The showroom floor was levelled using a combination of waffle slab and suspended slab. New building services were fitted to the renovation including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil. A new fully-fitted disabled toilet and kitchenette facilities were also constructed. The facade of the building was enclosed by a combination of precast concrete panels and aluminium glazing, whilst the existing steel facade structure was reused to provide external framing support for Masterwall cladding. Architectural elements were incorporated into the facade including alucobond cladding panels to the prominent corners in the north, east and west elevations of the building. A slimline canopy was fitted over the glazed openings for cover and sunshading, whilst new ramped and stepped entries were installed including an exposed aggregate finish to the main entry. Finally a new roller door was also installed to access the existing basement carpark.
