The student residence known as ‘Marilyn Rowe House’ was established through alterations and extensions to an existing heritage listed property in Parkville, Melbourne, and houses male and female students of the Australian Ballet School in a co-educational facility.

Single-storey and with an architectural language that is modest and highly differentiated from the existing dwelling, the internal reconfiguration was focused around the re-use of the many rooms to accommodate the functional requirements of the Ballet School.

The completed facility houses up to 37 students, aged between 13 and 18 years old.  As a co-educational facility, the site offers open, easy to supervise mixed-gender socialising areas, common use recreation/meal areas, lounge rooms, dormitories, and self-contained staff quarters.
